Thermal Conduction in Systems out of Hydrostatic Equilibrium
نویسنده
چکیده
We analyse the effects of thermal conduction in a relativistic fluid, just after its departure from hydrostatic equilibrium, on a time scale of the order of thermal relaxation time. It is obtained that the resulting evolution will critically depend on a parameter defined in terms of thermodynamic variables, which is constrained by causality requirements ∗On leave from Departamento de F́ısica, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas, Venezuela and Centro de Astrof́ısica Teórica, Mérida, Venezuela.

Dissipative fluids out of hydrostatic equilibrium
In the context of the Müller-Israel-Stewart second order phenomenological theory for dissipative fluids, we analyze the effects of thermal conduction and viscosity in a relativistic fluid, just after its departure from hydrostatic equilibrium, on a time scale of the order of relaxation times. Stability and causality conditions are contrasted with conditions for which the ”effective inertial mas...

متن کاملModels of Galaxy Clusters with Thermal Conduction
We present a simple model of hot gas in galaxy clusters, assuming hydrostatic equilibrium and energy balance between radiative cooling and thermal conduction. For five clusters, A1795, A1835, A2199, A2390 and RXJ1347.5-1145, the model gives a good description of the observed radial profiles of electron density and temperature, provided we take the thermal conductivity κ to be about 30% of the S...

We consider a model of galaxy clusters in which the hot gas is in hydrostatic equilibrium and maintains energy balance between radiative cooling and heating by thermal conduction. We analyze the thermal stability of the gas using a Lagrangian perturbation analysis. For thermal conductivity at the level of ∼ 20 − 40% of Spitzer conductivity, consistent with previous estimates for cluster gas, we...
متن کاملNon-Fourier heat conduction equation in a sphere; comparison of variational method and inverse Laplace transformation with exact solution
Small scale thermal devices, such as micro heater, have led researchers to consider more accurate models of heat in thermal systems. Moreover, biological applications of heat transfer such as simulation of temperature field in laser surgery is another pathway which urges us to re-examine thermal systems with modern ones. Non-Fourier heat transfer overcomes some shortcomings of Fourier heat tran...
